Have you ever lost your child, even for a second when they hide under the clothes rack at the store, or realize they have freedom and try to run away from you at the store? When my children first turned 2 or 3 I remember those things happening a few times. I remember my blood pressure rising and the panic setting in. But of course, I was running right after my children, and had them safely back with me in 5 seconds.
But I have had an even scarier situation happen to me that could have ended badly, but thankfully it did not.

My husband and I took our 3 boys who were 6,4,1 to the Children's Museum in Baltimore, MD. It is 3 stories, and enormous. I took my 1 year old to play in the room for toddlers and my husband went to an exhibit with our two older sons.

I went to look for my husband and older boys and when I found my husband he had just come out of a mystery exhibit and was only with our 6 year old. He immediately told me that our 4 year old went into a tube with his 6 year old brother, he saw them go in and other kids go in after them so he went to the end of the tube to meet them and our son did not come out. So my husband went to the other end of the tube and crawled into the tube. The tube is fairly small for big adults to fit and that is why my husband did not go in with our boys in the first place. He was not in the tube and he was not in any of the rooms of the exhibit.
I wanted to scream and panic all in 1 second. So we made a plan, he would stay at the exhibit and look for our son, I would go down to look around the middle exhibit, which is a big 3 story climbing adventure, and to look downstairs.
My plan was to go directly to security if I did not see him on my way down. My husband and I both had cell phones to stay in touch with each other. I was feeling so overwhelmed, but fortunately when I reached the 2nd floor I spotted my son all the way down on the first floor. And we were able to safely reach our son.
But we were lucky that we found him. I could not help but feel nauseous and realize how ill prepared we were for this sort of situation. We had not even discussed this type of scenario with our kids. Of course, the first thing I did was discuss a meeting spot with our kids and talk about finding a police officer or security officer. And I wrote our phone number (cell) on each of our kids' hands.
I pray that I never have to go through losing a child in a public place, even if it is only for 2 minutes. It could turn into a very scary situation in a matter of seconds.
I wish I had SafetyTats for my kids for an outing like that. I will definitely keep them in my car and use them the next time our family goes on an outing.

Safety Tats

I defnitely think these are a great idea... for a family outing... day at the park, or a high traffic area, ie, museums, beach, airports, etc. My 5 year old is just now getting our phone number and address memorized, so I especially like the idea for my 2 year old.

They should be required at amusement parks, waterparks, etc!!!

Thanks to Mommie911 for the tip!

Safety Tats

What a great idea, I can already see these being invaluable when I take my three children to OceanBreeze Waterpark this summer. I have to admit I have very well behaved kids that really don't run away, but it's not always about the kids that get distracted or the ones that hide. It really is a safety issue for ANY child, especially when they are off with one parent. That parent is just outnumbered! I hope I win :)

I would love to use the Quick Stick Write-On! Girl pack with my daughters as they grow older because I definitely have a major fear of losing them. Being able to write a phone number right on there is great because then the tattoos can be personalized with my cell phone number or my husband's or Grandma's, etc. or whoever is with the girls that day.

Thanks for the giveaway!
