My husband and I searched high and low for a warm winter coat for our daughter. The selection in a mild California climate does not offer many options for warm winter coats except those meant for skiing and snowboarding from stores like REI and North Face. While shopping in downtown Mill Valley at the adorable kids shop, Mill Valley Baby and Kids Company we happened upon the last lonesome winter coat. It was purple! It was size 4T! After much coercing and bribery with a candy cane we got my daughter to try on the coat. It fit with room to grow, so we snatched it up and went happily on our way for some last minute Christmas shopping.

Little did I know that this adorable, warm and functionally kid-friendly coat from Appaman has been setting trends across the country. No wonder celebrity kids like Ryder Hudson and Shilo Jolie-Pitt love the Appaman Puffy Coat. It comes in boys and girls sizes/colors and I can honestly say the coat is well made and worth the $90. It has snap pockets, wide snug rib at the cuffs and a dual zipper/snap closure in front. The zipper is made of a wide toothed plastic that makes it easy to zip in cold weather and won’t freeze like a metal zipper would. The hood also works well in the rain as we have experienced, and the coat is rain resistant as well. My daughter has not the puffy coat worn to the snow in Tahoe yet, but I’m sure that with her snow suit, thermals and a warm fleece pullover she’ll be nice and toasty and ready for plenty of wintery snow angel-making fun.
